SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK: (WSVA) A state of emergency has been declared in response to a pair of wildfires burning in the state, including a large blaze currently burning in Madison County.
This morning, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that the commonwealth is mobilizing resources to help firefighters battle the 25-hundred-acre Quaker Run Fire near Shenandoah National Park, and the Tuggles Gap Fire in Patrick County, near Martinsville.
Those fires broke through containment lines in recent days, and the governor’s office said that additional resources are required to get them both under control.
At least three state agencies, including the National Guard, have been deployed in response.
