While there are no fires burning in the Central Shenandoah Valley, heavy smoke has spread north and east into the area. The smoke is associated with wiildfires to the south and west of our area has the city covered with smoke, according to Staunton Fire and Rescues. The National Weather Service has confirmed smoke from wildfires in West Virginia, Bath County, Alleghany County, Amherst County and Bedford County has drifted into our area.
Citizens with breathing problems such as asthma, COPD, are encouraged to stay indoors and keep the windows and doors shut.
