NEW ORLEANS, La.- James Madison softball’s graduate student Hannah Shifflett and freshman KK Mathis earned a spot on the Sun Belt Conference’s All-Conference First Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
First baseman Hannah Shifflett earned conference honors for the second year in a row. Shifflett totaled 46 starts at first base and noted a .316 batting average while leading the Dukes to 28 wins this past season. Shifflett led the team with 18 home runs, 108 total bases, and a .812 slugging percentage.
Second baseman KK Mathis earned her first honors from the conference as a Duke. The freshman started all 46 games at second base and complied an impressive resume as a first-year candidate. Mathis led the team with a .349 batting average, 48 hits, 13 doubles, and 41 RBIs.
JMU was one of six Sun Belt squads represented on the All-Conference First Team.
The Dukes are back in action against South Alabama in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET.
