RICHMOND VA: (WSVA) Voters in Richmond today are deciding whether to authorize a new casino in the state capital.
This is the second time the issue has made an appearance on the ballot. Two years ago, voters rejected a similar proposal to build the more than 500-million-dollar resort-style gambling house at an old tobacco company off of I-95.
If approved, the facility would bring 13-hundred jobs to the Richmond area.
The state would feel the effects as well, since Virginia’s three current casinos generate millions in tax revenue for the commonwealth every month.
It’s unclear if the proposal has enough local support to pass.
