RICHMOND VA:  (WSVA) – New Year’s Day tends to be one of the deadliest days of the year on American roadways, mainly because of more drunk drivers.
That’s why Triple A is warning travelers to be on the lookout for other drivers who may be impaired leaving holiday parties.
Last December alone, there were more than 600 alcohol-related crashes on Virginia roads, resulting in 14 deaths. That’s why Morgan Dean with Triple-A Mid-Atlantic urges folks who see something on the highway to say something. Federal data shows that nationally, drunk driving deaths in December are at their highest in nearly 15 years.
