Attorney General Jason Miyares is telling one Washington D.C. nonprofit to stop spreading misinformation and outright false statements about voting.

This week, Miyares’ office issued a cease-and-desist letter to the group Look Ahead America after flyers were found posted on doors in three Washington-area counties under the name “Virginia Voter Assistance.”

The flyers read that government records show at least one resident of the home did not vote in recent elections. They continue, saying that failing to vote could result in loss of social security income, child custody rights and the seizure of personal assets.

In the letter, Assistant Attorney General Travis Andrews asked the group to stop distributing “intimidating, threatening or coercive information.”
