A pair of police K-9s here in the Valley did quite well at this year’s Virginia Police Canine Association awards.
According to a release, K-9 Wilson and handler SPO Owens of Staunton Police, along with Diablo and handler Officer Ritchie of Broadway Police both received the Narcotics Case of the Year award at last week’s annual meeting.
K-9 drug detection has become a hot commodity with an influx of dangerous drugs, such as fentanyl, appearing across the commonwealth.
The Police Canine Association says it’s dedicated to supporting the development of working dogs at accredited law enforcement agencies across Virginia.
