Hotels and hospitality employees tend to be near the front lines of the fight against human trafficking. Now, a new Virginia law requires all of them to take formal training to stop it.
The law just took effect at the beginning of the month.
It required the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services to create a free online course that teaches hotel managers and employees to recognize and report instances of trafficking.
Hotel personnel are required to complete that training within six months of starting work, and every two years after that.
