INDIANAPOLIS – Junior Kendall Turner of the James Madison women’s golf team has earned an at-large selection to the 2023 NCAA Raleigh Regional on May 8-10, as announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Wednesday afternoon.
Following her selection, Turner will compete at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. alongside 12 teams and five other individuals who earned selections. Wake Forest, Arizona State, Florida State and Florida are the top four seeded teams in Raleigh, which will host one of six NCAA Regionals.
Turner’s selection comes on the strength of a remarkable junior season, which saw her post five straight top-three finishes and card a scoring average of 72.57, currently the lowest in program history. Her 15 rounds of par or better and 89 total birdies this year are already the most ever by a JMU golfer.
With the nod, Turner is just the third JMU women’s golfer ever to earn an at-large individual selection to NCAA Regionals and the first since Nicole Sakamoto accomplished the feat in 2010.
The trip will mark Turner’s second to NCAA Regionals, after traveling with the Dukes to the NCAA Louisville Regional in 2021, following JMU’s team title at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
