SAN MARCOS, Texas – James Madison softball could not hold off Texas State’s offense which resulted in an 8-2 defeat on Friday evening.
The Dukes dropped to 27-18 with a 12-11 mark in Sun Belt play, while Texas State advanced to 33-21-1, sitting at 13-8-1 in league competition.
Sophomore Jasmine Hall led the offense with two hits and scored one run scored, while graduate student Hannah Shifflett added one hit, one RBI, and scored one run.
Graduate student Hallie Hall, sophomore Abbie Campbell, and freshman Bella Henzler all notched a hit.
How It Happened
• Texas State scored first from an RBI single down the left field side.
• Jasmine Hall reached base from an error and then took advantage of another Texas State fielding error to tie the game at one run apiece.
• JMU walked in a Texas State run in the bottom of the second inning.
• In the bottom of the third inning, Texas State homered to left field making the score 3-1.
• The Bobcats plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 7-1 advantage
• Shifflett added the Dukes’ second run in the top of the sixth inning from a solo home run.
• Texas State added its final run in the bottom of the sixth inning from an RBI single.
