JORDAN SPRINGS VA: (WSVA) – A groomsman in a Frederick County wedding is behind bars after authorities say he shot another man and himself during the reception.
In a release, Frederick County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Warren Gosnell said that deputies responded to the Historic Jordan Springs venue just after 7 o’clock Saturday night following reports of someone threatening violence against wedding guests.
An investigation revealed that 22-year-old John Morningstar, who was part of the wedding party, became “overly intoxicated” during the reception and was asked to leave. Morningstar reportedly left the venue, but later returned and caused a disturbance.
Gosnell said that 34-year-old Kevin Huff confronted Morningstar, who allegedly shot Huff in the leg and fled the scene. After stopping Morningstar’s vehicle on Jordan Springs Road, deputies also noticed a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.
He was charged with D-U-I, malicious wounding and two counts of recklessly handling a firearm.
