Harrisonburg city officials are going to apply for what is called a Community Connectors Grant later this month.
The national grant will help cities that address the harm that was done by urban renewal projects.
Harrisonburg’s public works transportation planner Jakob zumFelde explained to city council this week that the money would fund planning rather than any physical construction.
After the presentation, city council gave its blessing to apply for the grant, which will be awarded to around 15 small-to medium-sized cities nationwide.
