Thick black smoke filled the air and workers tried to catch their breath Monday afternoon as Augusta County Fire and Rescue crews responded to a major industrial fire near Verona.

Officials say the fire started at Ball Advance Aluminum Tech around 3 o’clock. Traffic along Route 11 and nearby Dunsmore Road was snarled for several hours.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported because of the blaze.

An investigation into what sparked the fire is underway.
