HARRISONBURG, Va. – EMU head baseball coach Adam Posey recently announced the promotion of Bryce Strawderman to full-time assistant coach.
“I’m excited to welcome Bryce, Marley, and Dallas into the EMU Baseball Family in a more permanent role,” Posey said. “Over the last two years, Coach Strawderman has demonstrated the high level of care for our student-athletes that is expected within our program and has earned the trust of our players. This continuity will allow our program to keep pushing forward in our pursuit for the first conference championship in program history.”
Strawderman has been with the Royals for the past two seasons in a volunteer coaching role. He is also the head coach of the Broadway Bruins of the Rockingham County Baseball League.
Prior to taking over as the skipper for Broadway, Strawderman was a five-year fixture in the field for the Bruins from 2016-2020. He was also a five-year starting shortstop for Ohio Valley University, a DII university in West Virginia that played its games in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. He was a standout athlete at East Hardy High School, being named all-state in football, basketball and baseball.
“This is a very exciting time for my fiancé and I,” Strawderman said. “This opportunity has been a blessing in disguise. Coach Posey had not known anything about me before applying to be on his staff two years ago. I didn’t know anything about his style of coaching and I was still trying to develop mine. But it turns out that we have been a good fit for one another. He believes in what I’m trying to do offensively and trusts me with his guys, which is an honor. And I have bought into the culture he has been building and the type of guys that he has been trying to bring to this program for 9 years now.”
Strawderman began his coaching duties on August 1.
