HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball’s freshman KK Mathis has been named to the 2023 NFCA Division I All-Central Region Third Team, the organization released on Thursday. Mathis was one of three Sun Belt Conference selectees, joining Delaney Keith from Coastal Carolina and Grace Cheleman from Marshall.

Mathis started all 47 games at second base and recorded a team-leading .336 batting average. The Ohio native, led the squad with 48 hits, 42 RBIs, and 13 doubles. She also complied a .678 slugging percentage and a .396 on base percentage.

The freshman notched 12 home runs on the 2023 season, second-most by a freshman in program history, only trailing Jailyn Ford with 15 in 2013. She also tallied a program-record five hits in one game at NC State on Feb. 26, when she went 5-5 with a two-run home run.

This is the 13th straight year a Duke has been represented on the All-Region team.
