ROCKINGHAM VA: (WSVA) – A Rockingham County Public Schools employee has been identified and charged after a Friday morning school bus crash near Penn Laird sent five students to the hospital with minor injuries.
Virginia State Police Sergeant Brent Coffey said in a release that Amanda B. Carini, of Broadway, was driving the bus along Shen Lake Drive just before 8 o’clock Friday, when she attempted to turn left onto Cross Keys Road.
According to Coffey, Carini pulled into the path of 66-year-old Dennis Michael, who was unable to avoid striking the bus with his Dodge pickup truck. Michael was treated at the scene for minor injuries of his own.
Meanwhile, State Police say that the 44-year-old Carini was charged with one count of reckless driving.
The crash remains under investigation.
