FOREST, Va. – Bridgewater College football’s Aaron Moore has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Eagles win over Averett yesterday afternoon.
The senior out of Roanoke, Va. recorded five solo tackles to go along with having his hands in two key turnovers in the third quarter.
The cornerback intercepted a Cougar pass late in the third quarter to give BC tremendous field position. With the short field the Eagles’ offense drove 51 yards in five plays on the way to a rushing TD to make it 46-17.
The very next series the BC defense forced an Averett punt and Moore stayed on the field with the special teams. Moore scooped up the bad snap and carried it in from 26 yards out for the scoop and score TD with under a minute left in the third quarter.
This is Moore’s first ODAC Player of the Week nod this season after earning the conference accolade last season as well. An all-conference and all-region pick a season ago, Moore ranks seventh in the conference in solo tackles and is tied for second in interceptions with three on the season.
The Eagles return home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. homecoming clash with Ferrum.
