Bridgewater College has dedicated a permanent memorial in honor of the two officers who were killed by a gunman on the school’s campus last winter.

The memorial, found in the space between Memorial and Flory halls, immortalizes the lives and service of Campus Police Officer John Painter and Capus Safety Officer J.J. Jefferson. Both were allegedly killed by former student Alexander Wyatt Campbell on February 1st of last year.

The school has also established a student support fund in honor of both fallen officers. The specific uses of that fund will be decided with input from the Bridgewater College Police Department.

Meanwhile, a murder trial for Campbell is set for next April.
