The nation’s eighth body farm is now up and running in Virginia.
This is where bodies that have been donated to science, known as cadavers, are studied to help solve crimes. The new facility at George Mason University is using a field in Manassas to train a new generation of forensic investigators.
The farm was reportedly launched by a former FBI profiler, who purposely chose to place it in a wooded area to help investigators get a better handle on studying outdoor homicides.
The school’s forensic professors have experience investigating high-profile killings, including victims of the Oklahoma City bombing and the Unabomber.
