VERONA VA (WSVA) – Seven more Augusta County sheriff’s vehicles are now equipped with portable defibrillators thanks to a federal grant.
In a social media post, Sheriff Donald Smith said that the Automated External Defibrillators were purchased using money provided by a Local JAG Grant, which the Bureau of Justice uses to shuffle funding to state and local governments.
Commonly-used A-E-Ds retail between 15-hundred and two-thousand dollars apiece.
Sheriff Smith said that the seven new devices brings the grand total to twelve defibrillators on duty in sheriff’s office vehicles.
