WAYNESBORO VA: (WSVA) – An Augusta County Sheriff’s Deputy has been charged with a felony by Virginia State Police following a physical altercation with a suspect nearly two months ago.
Adam Ryan Martin was arrested by the deputy in Albemarle County early on September 29th after authorities tried to pull him over on Route 250 near Waynesboro in connection with several recent pursuits.
He later crashed on Dudley Mountain Road, and fled on foot as the deputy gave chase. Sheriff Donald Smith said in a release that as the deputy reached Martin, the suspect turned and assumed a “fighting stance,” leading to the altercation and subsequent arrest.
On Tuesday, Sheriff Donald Smith said State Police issued warrants for Sergeant William Mikolay on counts of felony malicious wounding and misdemeanor assault and battery. He was arrested and released on bond.
