Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares says police staffing numbers are improving across the commonwealth, but departments in urban areas are still spread thin.
During a visit to Roanoke yesterday, the A-G stumped for more folks to choose law enforcement as a career during this National Police Week, and for existing officers to make Virginia their new home.
It’s a similar pitch to one made by Governor Glenn Youngkin last October when announcing Operation Bold Blue Line.
Today is the seven-month anniversary of that initiative, which is a five-step plan that includes addressing low pay in law enforcement and fast-tracking new recruit training.
