Augusta County deputies have arrested a 17-year-old in connection for allegedly shooting another minor Friday morning in Raphine.

The victim, a 16-year-old, was taken to U-V-A Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The unnamed suspect is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, using a firearm to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm in public. He remains held at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center.

20-year-old Daniel Maurice, of Staunton, was also arrested and charged with accessory before the fact. He is currently held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

Sheriff Donald Smith says the shooting was an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to the community.
