HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail will be temporarily closed for major repairs.

The jail closed all intakes as of 8 o clock last night and is working to move all current inmates out of the jail in an emergency capacity.

Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said in a release that there are emergency repairs to the physical infrastructure of the building that are needed immediately, and to begin those, the jail needed to close and empty out.

It is uncertain how long the jail will be closed by the Sheriff is hoping the repairs will be completed in about a week.
