ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police is investigating last week’s fatal crash in Rockingham County.

The crash occurred last Thursday, May 2, at shortly before 10 a.m. on Route 259, Brocks Gap Rd, near of Fawley Ln. on Route 938.

Thomas L. Breighner, 86, of Timberville, Va., died at the scene of the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to VSP public information officer Brent Coffey.

“A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling east on Route 259 when it rear-ended a 2015 Ford E350 bus, which was stopped for another eastbound vehicle making a turn,” Coffey said.

The driver of the Ford, a 33-year-old female from Old Fields, WV., suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Five adult passengers in the Ford suffered minor injuries and were transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment. All five passengers were wearing seatbelts, Coffey said.
