Tyrus Cobb Lytton, 91, a long-time Quicksburg resident, who has more recently been a part of the Bridgewater Retirement Community, passed away on April 21, 2024. He was born on January 15, 1933, in Shenandoah County, Virginia, and was baptized at St. Luke’s County Line United Church of Christ.

Ty, as he was known to many, served in the Air Force, stationed in Greenland and Morocco. Afterwards, he went to work for the General Electric Company for 30 years, as a field engineer specializing in microwave communication. Ty retired to the Zehring farm at the age of 55 and spent the next 35 years farming. He was a former member of the Forestville/Quicksburg Ruritan Club. Ty enjoyed being outside and embraced the life of a farmer. He was a lover of all animals, but dogs in particular sought him out.

Ty is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lita Grey Zehring Lytton, married on December 25, 1953. He is also survived by his 4 daughters: Amy Ruth Cornwell (Joe), Gina Lytton Kimberlain, Lisa Lytton Shugaar (Antony), and Kara Lytton (Rick). He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren (Zach Cornwell, Tessa Quade, Heather Kimberlain, Timothy Kimberlain, Tyler Kimberlain, Arlie Shugaar, Tara Tenney) and 7 siblings (Edna Gail Lively (James), Joyce Elizabeth Stephenson (Gary), Mary Jane Lytton Pierce, Robin Bruce Lytton (Sveta), Martha Lytton Van Trees (Stephen), John Michael Lytton, Kimberly Byrd Lytton). He has 8 great grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Ty was preceded in death by his parents, Tye Cobb Lytton and Pauline Virginia Will Lytton, as well as his oldest sister, Pat Lytton Sims.

Ty was a member of Rader Lutheran church but attended Solomon Lutheran Church as well as St. Paul Lutheran Church.

A graveside service will be held at Solomons Lutheran Church on April 26, 2024, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ty’s memory may be made to Solomons Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 71, Quicksburg VA  22847.
