HARRSISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Two local groups are trying to raise community awareness of the rights and services available to crime victims during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which runs through Saturday.

New Creation VA + Stone Haven VA, two Harrisonburg non-profits, say that they are joining together to plant 2,391 flags on their property.

The number represents every known victim of human trafficking between 2007 and 2021 – and they add that only one percent of victims are ever identified.

Both organizations are rooted in supporting victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
