Aaron Kendall Saum, 52, of Elkton, Virginia, departed this life for his Heavenly home on Monday, April 15, 2024, with his family by his side. Aaron was born on December 5, 1971 in Harrisonburg, Virginia and was the son of Robert Wayne Saum and Victoria Baugher Hensley.

Aaron attended Rockingham County Public Schools and graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1994. He was a participant in the ARC Op Shop for many years and he was also involved in Special Olympics, Canteen and Day Camp. He was a member of the Elk Run Evangelical Church.

Aaron loved Bluegrass Gospel music, Scooby Doo, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse, Three’s Company, The Brady Bunch, sunsets, pizza and ICE CREAM! He loved going along for rides throughout the valley. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Aaron was preceded in death by his “Daddy”, Calvin (Pete) Hensley; grandparents, Russell and Geneva Baugher, Bob and Ada Saum, Elmer and Alda Hensley, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, he is survived by a brother, John and his wife, Karen who was like a sister to Aaron; sister, Marsha Merica, as well as a large extended family and many friends.

A special thank you to the staff of Sunset Ridge for the excellent care given to Aaron over many years. Sunset Ridge is a “family” environment for their residents and extended family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024 at Elk Run Evangelical Church in Elkton with Pastor Ellen Martin and Pastor John Senters officiating.
