Audrey Jean Barger Hayghe, 84, of Sun City Fl, passed through to heaven Sunday March 17, 2024, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa FL.
Andrey was born on November 21, 1940 in Rockingham County VA to the late Willie G and Evelyn Raines Barger.
Audrey was a graduate of Montevideo High School and worked as a legal secretary in a law firm in Washington DC for several years before relocating to Florida. She lived and worked in St. Petersburg FL for many years managing a professional office building. During this time, she also worked as a paralegal. Upon her retirement she moved to Sun City Center FL to be close to several of her siblings who had winter homes there. In 2011, she suffered her third stroke and was forced to leave her home and enter Cypress Creek, an Assisted Living Facility, where she resided with her Kitty, Pixie until she entered the hospital on Friday prior to her death. Audry loved her family and always kept in touch by telephone despite the toll the strokes took on her speech and eyesight. She enjoyed social gatherings, Square dancing, taking cruises, going to the beach, Bluegrass Music, NASCAR and spending time with her lifelong friend, Elaine Harper Norton and husband Fred.
Audrey is survived by sisters; Janet M. Minnick, Betty L. Bailey of Rockingham VA, Linda S. Pence (Tom) of Broadway VA, brother-in- law, Fred Wenger of Dayton VA, nieces; Tanya Bradford, Sarah Pence Deavers (Chad), nephew, Kevin Bailey, grand nephews; Hunter, Landon and Owen Deavers, Daniel, Caden Bradford, great nieces Casey Bailey, Rebecca Bradford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, brother, Lewis E. Barger, sister, Barbara E. Barger Wenger, brother-in-law, Donald R. Bailey and Carlton E. Minnick
Per her wishes her body will be cremated.
Graveside service will be Saturday May 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Mt Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville VA
