Naomi Ruth Shoemaker Myers, passed away on Easter Day, March 31, 2024 at the age of 91.

She was a former teacher at Bank Mennonite Christian Day School from 1956 – 1959. She then taught at Plumstead Christian School near Plumsteadville, PA until 1962.  Later in life once her children were nearly grown, she worked as a proofreader at Christian Light Publications for nearly 30 years until her retirement at the age of 80.

In the summer of 1962, she married Wilmer L. Myers, who survives and resides at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home.  They were blessed with three sons, Paul Myers (Gemma), James Myers, and Titus Myers (Renee); three daughters, Mary Rae, Joanna Myers, and Rachel Babkirk (Jason).  In addition to her spouse and children, she is survived by one sister, Alda Knupp; two brothers, Leonard Shoemaker, and Matthew Shoemaker (Catherine); grandchildren, Justin Myers (Elisa), Jesse Myers, Hannah Bowler (Gunnar), Melissa Davis (Michael), Lindsey Phillips (Jordan), Kiya Babkirk, and Jade Babkirk; great grandchildren, Jireh Myers, Rapha Myers, Benjamin Bowler, Neveah Phillips, and Bentley Phillips.

Naomi was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Shoemaker, her mother, Mary Lam Shoemaker; two siblings, Audra Whetzel, and Eugene Shoemaker; two brothers-in-law, Charles Knupp, Ashby Whetzel; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Shoemaker, and Nancy Shoemaker.

Naomi cherished her friends and family, including her church family at Bethel Mennonite Church, where she was a life-long member.  She loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ.  She enjoyed singing and traveled to Central America in a choir in her youth.  She was fond of the Runions Creek community, and the mountains where she grew up listening to the Whippoorwills.  She loved birds, trees, and creeks.  She enjoyed reading, journaling, creative writing, and crocheting.  She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Pastors Steve Estep, Dale Brubaker, and Millard Sonifrank will conduct a funeral service 11:00 AM Friday at the Bethel Mennonite Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Thursday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
