Virginia State Police discovered 123 lbs. of marijuana inside a vehicle the stopped in Rockingham County on Wednesday.
Sgt. Brent Coffey, VSP Public Information officer, said in a news release that Jun Yan, 45, of Fresh Meadows, N.Y., faces charges of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and transporting more than five pounds of marijuana into the Commonwealth.
Troopers stopped Yan’s 2024 Toyota Sienna at I-81 mile marker 246 for speeding and following too closely. They searched the vehicle and discovered multiple boxes containing 123 vacuum sealed packages of marijuana.
The bags of marijuana have an estimated street value of over $500,000, Coffey said.
Yan was transported to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.
