MOUNT SIDNEY, Va – Augusta County authorities are investigating a weekend shooting in the Mount Sidney area that left one man injured.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder reports that shortly before 9 pm Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a call about a fight in the 570 block of Knightly Mill Road.
Once on scene, Deputies were able to determine that a 36-year-old man was shot in the leg during the altercation. He was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center by Life Guard for treatment.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office processed the crime scene, located and recovered evidence and all persons that were involved have been identified.
“This was an isolated incident, and at no time was there a threat to our community,” said Sheriff Donald L. Smith.
At this time, no charges have been placed.
