Alton Clay “Shine” Bare, 90, a resident of Broadway, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Bare was born on March 28, 1933 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Hazel Bare. He was a poultry farmer and loved to hunt mushrooms, wildlife and going fishing. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

In October 1950, he married Rebecca June Kirkpatrick Bare who preceded him in death in 2012. On August 3, 2013, he married June Elizabeth Lewis Bare who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Kim Turner, Kathy Chandler and husband Jeff; eight stepchildren; grandchildren, Brandon Chandler, Ben Chandler (Becky), Taylor May (Scotty), Ammon Turner, Abe Turner, Amanda Smith, Aaron Bare, Rebecca Bare, Cherrie Anne Holley; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his mother and first wife, Mr. Bare was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Bare, Kent Bare; two grandsons, Gavin Bare, Levi Bare; and one great-grandchild.
