Warren Alton Young, 81, of Harrisonburg, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 23, 2024. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and Christian.

 

Warren was born August 22, 1942, in Roanoke, Virginia. He spent his youth in Roanoke, before meeting and marrying the love of his life, enlisting in the U.S. Navy.

 

His wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Baker “Libby” Young; his daughter, Theresa Young Dunton, of Amherst, Virginia, and fiancé, Gary W. Roach; a granddaughter, Myra Elizabeth Dunton, of Louisville, Kentucky, and life partner, Giuseppe Lafronza, and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Anson Ritchey, all survive. He is also survived by a brother, Ronnie “Buddy” Young and wife, Carol, of Columbia, South Carolina; a sister, Kathe Martin and husband, John of Hatfield, Pennsylvania; several nieces, and his beloved shih tzu, Yak.

 

In addition to having serving in the United States Navy, on the USS Mills, out of Newport, Rhode Island, Warren was a member, as well as an officer, of the BPOE Elks Lodge #450 in Harrisonburg. He was employed at Dunham-Bush for 37 years, before retiring in 2001, he worked as a Quality Control Inspector. While working at Dunham-Bush, he also attended Blue Ridge Community College for two years. Warren was an avid photographer, a firearms enthusiast, and a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was also a benefactor for numerous charities, local and around the world.
