Peggy Mildred Wood, 81, of Elkton, went on to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the home of her niece, Tracey Cubbage, in Shenandoah Va. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon A Wood and mother Lillie M. Hansbrough Wood.
She is survived by two brothers, Delbert Wood (Peggy) of Elkton and Vernon Wood (Pat Morris) of Grottoes; and eight sisters, Thelma Crawford, Carolyn Kile, Lois Shifflett (Ray), Mary Shifflett (Wayne), Bonnie Jones, Kay Lam (Hop) all of Elkton; Betty Owens of McGaheysville, and Wanda Plum (Clyde) of Shenandoah. Peggy was also preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Betty Shifflett Wood and Shelby Sellers Wood both of Elkton; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Crawford, Wayne Kile, and Bobby Owens all of Elkton, and Bill Jones of Mechanicsville, and special nephew, Todd Lam.
Peggy was a member of the Beldor Mennonite Church where she attended since a child. She had various jobs during her life including nanny, poultry processing plant, sewing plant, and lastly Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she retired after 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was second moma to younger siblings as well as many nieces and nephews. She was always willing to help babysit, taxi, bake cookies/cakes when called upon by family and friends.
