RICHMOND, Va – A measure to eliminate the exemptions from Virginia’s minimum wage requirements for farm employees is one step away from clearing the House.

Northern Virginia Delegate Adele McClure’s bill was passed onto its third and final reading earlier today.

Before the vote, area Delegate Chris Runion argued on the House floor that politicians should not interfere with farmers and the folks that work with them.

With Democrats controlling the House, the bill is expected to narrowly pass along party lines.

Keep in mind, that even it passes through the Democratic-controlled Senate, the measure may not survive Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin’s veto.
