BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The No. 25 ranked Bridgewater College women’s volleyball team soared past Sweet Briar en route to a straight-set win Friday night on home court.
Score: Bridgewater (BC) 3, Sweet Briar (SBC) 0
Records: BC (15-1, 5-0), SBC (0-15, 0-1)
How It Happened
• The Eagles did not hit the brake; it was all gas. BC pushed to an early 5-1 advantage, then rolled to a commanding 14-3 boost off a six-point streak. Another scoring surge ensued for a dominant 23-6 score. Molly Gardner landed the final point off an ace to grab the first set, 25-7.
• The second set was much like the same as the first set. The Eagles used a massive seven-point scoring run to break away from the opposition freely. Brooklyn Williams sounded out the last point for a 25-11 set score.
• In the third set, the Eagles cruised by the Vixens. A five-point streak set up the set effectively and with that early scoring surge, BC held strong the rest of the way. A 13-point consecutive run carried out the final workings of the match as Virginia Collins cracked the final kill for a 25-11 final set score.
Match Notes
• The Eagles tripled the Vixens in total kills in the match with 35 successful attacks.
• Molly Gardner stunned the Vixens with 10 service aces.
• Maya Veselinovic and Nora Van Horn shared 12 assists each.
