ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Governor Abigail Spanberger has announced the addition of a second Free Fishing Weekend to coincide with National Hunting and Fishing Day and National Public Lands Day.

Now through Sunday, Virginians are permitted to fresh and saltwater fish without purchasing a fishing license.

The announcement follows Spanberger’s “Virginia Lands Month” proclamation earlier this month in which she encouraged residents to enjoy the Commonwealth’s 50 wildlife management areas, 44 state parks, 26 state forests, or any of the state’s thousands of local parks.
