RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Governor Abigail Spanberger has issued a flag order to display the POW/MIA flag today, Friday, September 18, 2026.

Spanberger states this is in observation of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

“On this solemn day, we pause to acknowledge the brave servicemembers who have been taken prisoner or remain missing in action. We honor the more than 1,300 Virginians who never returned home,” said Spanberger. “I join all Virginians across the Commonwealth in recognizing the sacrifices of these heroes in service to our nation. Virginia will always honor their legacy, and we remain committed to reuniting them with their families and loved ones.”
