BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College men’s soccer team continued its streak with a commanding 7-0 win over Southern Virginia on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
• After a series of corner kicks and shot attempts early in the contest Bridgewater struck first in the 10th minute when Kevin Polanco scored off an assist from Aerian Hammond. Riley Queen quickly added to the scoreline, tallying two goals within five minutes. Polanco assisted Queen’s first goal before Trey Widrick set up his second, boosting the Eagles to a 3-0 lead.
• The Eagles kept foot on the gas in the second half. Noa Denno headed in a goal during the 50th minute, assisted by Polanco, who recorded his second assist of the day. David Bynum extended the lead to 5-0 in the 63rd minute, receiving an assist from Anthony Medrano.
• Lucio Bianchi rounded out the scoring with two late no doubters, one being from the attacking midfield. Justin Merino assisted Bianchi’s first goal in the 83rd minute, and Bianchi struck again in the 88th minute to finalize the score at 7-0.

Match Notes
• Queen and Bianchi each scored two goals for the Eagles, with Polanco contributing one goal and two assists. Both Queen and Polanco finished the match with four points.
• Southern Virginia goalkeeper Isaac Northcutt made six saves while facing 22 shots from Bridgewater.
• Bridgewater dominated the shot count with a total of 22 shots compared to Southern Virginia’s four, and the Eagles had a 13-2 lead in shots on goal. Zane Kowalski and Davis Bashore combined to secure the shutout, with Kowalski registering two saves.

What’s Next?
The Eagles return to their home pitch to take on the Bullets of Gettysburg Saturday, Sept. 12 followed by Marymount on Sunday, Sept. 13.
