WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — Authorities have determined an alleged second threat to Westwood Hills Elementary School over the weekend was false.

During the overnight hours of Saturday, September 5th, the Waynesboro Police Department reportedly received information from out of state about a potential threat to the school for some time today.

Throughout the weekend, law enforcement personnel worked with Westwood Hills Elementary officials and other agencies to investigate the alleged threat, specifically to source its origin and locate the suspect.

The school’s campus was also searched and checked throughout the weekend out as a precaution.

Yesterday afternoon, Waynesboro Police were able to locate the individual with the assistance of Harrisonburg Police Department and determine the alleged threat was, indeed, false.

The investigation continues, and WPD says charges are likely pending.

The second threat comes after a man forced himself into the school and shot himself in the library last week.

Westwood Hills Elementary is scheduled reopen on Wednesday.
