AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Churchville man has been arrested following an alleged incident involving sexual assault in the City of Staunton.

On July 29th, Sergeant Christopher Ammons says authorities received a report of the attack that allegedly happened near downtown.

As a result of the investigation and allegations, Austin Blaine Weidner was taken into custody.

“Weidner was arrested with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Taskforce on Monday, August 31st, in Augusta County,” Ammons said.

The 24-year-old Weidner faces multiple charges including Aggravated Sexual Battery, Rape, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

He is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail pending a bond hearing today at 1pm in Augusta County General District Court.

Tomorrow, Weidner heads to Staunton for a hearing also scheduled for 1 o’clock.
