RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Virginia Department of Transportation will be suspending many highway work zones and lifting most lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia this weekend.

Restrictions will not be in effect from noon on Friday, September 4, through noon on Tuesday, September 8.

Most locations will have their lane closures lifted, however drivers may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place during this time.
