NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – The Sun Belt Conference has unveiled the league’s 2026-27 women’s basketball schedule on Thursday, laying out James Madison’s 18-game slate, with 12 games against traditional Sun Belt East opponents.
The Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Championship will return to Pensacola, Fla. for the seventh consecutive year, with every tournament game taking place inside the Pensacola Bay Center, March 2-8.
JMU’s conference schedule begins on Dec. 19 with a trip to Monroe, La. to face ULM, followed by a league home opener versus Georgia Southern on Dec. 22, which won last season’s Sun Belt regular-season title.
The slate includes a rematch of the 2026 Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Championship game as the Dukes trek to Trojan Arena to take on Troy (Jan. 2). James Madison will also host Louisiana Tech on Jan. 9 in its first season back in the Sun Belt, marking the first-ever matchup between the historic programs. JMU has the fourth-most wins among Division I programs in NCAA history at 1,281, while the Lady Techsters have tallied 1,251.
The Dukes will conclude conference play on Feb. 26 against App State before turning their attention to the Sun Belt tournament.
