STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton man is in custody on alleged abduction-related charges.

At 8:15 pm on July 15, 2026, Waynesboro Police Captain Benjamin Lemons says officers responded to the 100-block of Forever Court on reports of a woman attempting to jump out of a moving vehicle.

“Officers were advised prior to their arrival that the female had successfully exited the vehicle and was now with a witness. Additionally, they were advised that the suspect had relocated to the other end of the same block,” said Lemons.

After investigators interviewed the victim and the suspect, Malik McKenzie was arrested for Felony Abduction and a misdemeanor count of Domestic Assault.

The 22-year-old McKenzie is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail and has a hearing scheduled in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in September.
