ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Fire and Rescue crews subdued a fire last night, July 19, 2026, in the Battlefield Estate subdivision in Rockingham County.

At 9:28 pm, units were responded to a two-story house on the 3800 block of South Court in Penn Laird on reports of a residential fire and explosion.

Assistant Fire Marshall Captain Todd Spitzer says firefighters pulled the electrical meter to allow crews to safely extinguish the flames visible from the house’s attached garage in around fifteen minutes.

Engines from Hose Company Number-4, Harrisonburg, and McGaheysville assisted, reportedly staying on the scene for 3 hours of overhaul.

No one was injured in the incident, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
