WOODSTOCK, VA (Rocktown Now) — A former Commonwealth’s Attorney has had her license to practice law in Virginia suspended after pleading guilty to felony charges.

The Virginia Bar Association announced this week that Amanda McDonald Wiseley of Strasburg, who served as the top prosecutor in Shenandoah County from 2012 to 2024, had her license suspended on April 24th of this year.

A month earlier on March 25th, Wiseley pleaded guilty to two felony counts of Making a False Statement on a Tax Return and Misuse of Public Assets.

Virginia State Police spokesman Matt Demlein confirmed at the time of her arrest last October that the charges were related to Wiseley’s time in the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.

Wiseley has a Deferred Disposition hearing scheduled for next April in Shenandoah County Circuit Court which could result in the reduction or dismissal of charges if certain conditions are met.
