AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Churchville woman is in custody after an alleged stabbing Tuesday night.

Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith says at around 9:30, they received a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Scenic Highway in Churchville.

The 47-year-old male victim drove to the Family Dollar parking lot in Churchville seeking help after the incident. Deputies responded to both the Family Dollar and the location where the stabbing occurred.

Churchville Fire and Rescue and Augusta County Fire and Rescue responded to the Family Dollar. The victim was transported by the Churchville Rescue Squad to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment. He suffered stab wounds to his hand and leg and was transported with life-threatening injuries due to significant blood loss.

42-year-old Brittany Paige Sheffer was arrested at her residence without incident, and charged with Malicious Wounding. She is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.

Sheriff Smith says this was a domestic-related incident.
