HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — From May 2 through July 31, Anicira will cover adoption fees for all cats available through Aristocat Cafe in Harrisonburg, which partners with the Humane Society of Shenandoah County (HSSC) to provide a community-centered space where adoptable cats can meet potential families.

“We are incredibly grateful for the dedicated volunteers at HSSC and the meaningful way they serve animals in our community, as well as for partners like Aristocat Cafe who make adoption more accessible and welcoming,” said Mary Golden-Hughes, Director of Advancement for Anicira in a release. “This collaboration is rooted in shared values, supporting local, volunteer-driven animal welfare work and strengthening the human-animal bond. It also comes at an important time of year, as kitten season increases the number of cats and kittens needing safe, loving homes. By removing financial barriers to adoption, we hope more families will be able to welcome a new companion into their lives.”

Anicira will host three community adoption events at Aristocat Cafe from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on May 2, June 13, and July 25, giving community members the opportunity to meet adoptable cats and learn more about the adoption process.

Community members are also encouraged to visit Aristocat Cafe anytime between May 2 and July 31 to meet available cats and support this collaborative adoption effort. Aristocat Cafe is located at 111 N. Liberty Street in Harrisonburg and is open during the following hours:

  • Thursdays and Fridays: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Sundays: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
