HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Eunoia Theatre is partnering with EMU Continuing and
Professional Education to offer four six-week theatre courses early this summer.
Introduction to Acting, Intermediate Acting, First Steps in Playwriting, and Directing for the Stage will be offered and is taught by a local professional theatre artist.
“Our hope with this roster of classes is to offer a unique opportunity for theatre artists and
aspiring theatre artists in our community to challenge themselves and invest in their creative
development. Our teaching style is accessible but rooted in deep and proven practice, “ said
Eunoia Theatre Executive Director and course instructor Sarah Levine McClelland.
Intermediate Acting – Mondays, May 18-June 22, 7-9 p.m.; Instructor: Sarah Levine McClelland.
This class is open to anyone who has some previous experience or training and is interested in
deepening their practice, enhancing their skill set, and approaching old acting challenges in new
ways. It will be entirely practical.
First Steps in Playwriting – Tuesdays, May 26-June 30, 7-9 p.m.; Instructor: Garret Lee Milton
Participants will examine various dramatic structures, engage with key narrative conventions,
and experiment with techniques that bring stories to the stage through dialogue, character and
action. It offers a mix of practical application and theoretical discussion.
Introduction to Acting – Wednesdays, May 20- June 24, 7-9 p.m.; Instructor: Rhys McClelland
This class is open to anyone who is curious about how to get started in acting, with no
experience required. It will be entirely practical.
Directing for the Stage – Thursdays, May 28-July 2, 7-9 pm.; Instructor: Rhys McClelland
This class is intended for both first-time directors and those looking to expand their technique. It
offers a mix of practical application and theoretical discussion.
